WEBSTER -- Alfred J. Carlisle, 83, died Thursday at Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen after a period of failing health. He was born in Concord, the son of Raymond and Alfreda (Duclos) Carlisle. He was a longtime resident of Webster and graduated from Penacook High School. He served in the Army in Italy during World War II. He worked as a carpenter, mason and foreman for the state maintenance shop for 29 years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and auctions. He traveled to Nova Scotia with his wife many times. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Gloria (Kenney) Carlisle of Webster; three sons, Kevin Carlisle of Webster, Keith Carlisle of Concord and Warren Carlisle of St. Mary's, Ga.; five daughters, Lorna Carlisle of Penacook, Lisa King of Loudon, Janie Lord-South of Hohenwald, Tenn., Marsha Perkins of Summerton, Tenn., and Maureen Follansbee of Grants Pass, Ore.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A daughter, Brenda, died previously. Burial, Pine Grove Cemetery in Boscawen.
