He was a replacement crew gunner of B-24s and B-17s completing 32 missions attaining the rank of staff sergeant. He went to work in 1946 for Braniff International Airways as an agent and became a pilot in 1951. He retired in 1982 in Rockport, TX, where he had lived since 1974. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Shriner and Jester branches.

He was drafted into the farm club of the St. Louis Browns Baseball Team but left to finish college. He was in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was a pilot. He was a kind and gentle person. He died as the result of blocked arteries, a condition that could have been treated only ten years later. He is buried near Lafayette, LA, his favorite town.
