Wilbur E. Moore "Pete" age 88 of Canton, Ohio passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2011, with his family by his side. He was born on Dec. 18, 1923 in Parkersburg, W.Va. to the late Nettie and Joseph Moore.

He celebrated 63 years of marriage to the love of his life Anita R. Moore (Mayfield) also of Canton. Pete was a Navy Hero awarded the bronze star in World War II. He served his county for five years, five months and 29 days. While in the U.S. Navy he also served on the USS Stanley (DD478). He worked for The Timken Company and retired after 31 years of employment. He was a member of Greenwood Christian Church. Pete had a love for music and enjoyed playing his guitar.

He is survived by his children, Joe and Paula (Taylor) Moore of Orlando, Fla., Paula and Ed Romano of Minerva, Marc and Paula (Ebey) Moore of Canton, Lorraine and Jerry Wilson of Ocala, Fla., and Brenda and Keith Johnson of Canton. He was dearly loved and known as "Papa Pete" by his twelve grandchildren, Stephanie and Jason Mueller, Joey and Karla Moore, Melanie and Rich Morales, Brandy and Bob Allbritain, Trevor and Trina Romano, Marc and Jamie Moore, Keanon Romano, Kyle Johnson, Brenna Romano, Torrey Wilson, Kylynn Johnson and Monty Wilson. He also enjoyed his 12 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff and friends from St. Lukes Lutheran Community for their care, love and support. Pete was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Friends and Family may call on Friday 1-3 p.m. at Schneeberger Funeral Home, 2222 Fulton Road N.W., Canton. Services will follow.
