He served in the U.S Army 1962-1964 and worked for Rohm and Haas from 1965 to 1999. He lived a life of service that included Indian Guides, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little League, high school Band Boosters, and Habitat for Humanity. He faithfully attended Clear Lake United Methodist Church and participated in the church choir, hand bell choir, UM Army, various mission trips and lead several bible studies. His hobbies included cooking and traveling both in the US and internationally. He was a proud Aggie Dad and attended football games for 18 years.
He is survived by his wife Ann, whom he met in their senior high youth group at church; son Keith, son Eric and his wife Kim; and sisters Jane Vandergast, Betty Brosius, Judy Schofield, and Marilyn Reed. He is preceded in death by his parents Wellington and Caroline Zimmerman.
A celebration of Don's life will be held at 11am, Friday June 4, 2010 at Clear Lake United Methodist Church.
His lifelong passion was the church music ministry. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Clear Lake United Methodist Church (CLUMC, 16335 El Camino Real, Houston, TX 77062)), in memory of Don Zimmerman, for use in renovating the pipe organ or expanding the existing set of hand bells that he helped establish.
