Nonagenarian Philp J. Allbright Passes Away Thursday P.M.

Life ebbed away last evening before dusk for one who had been almost a century of life.

Philip Jefferson Allbright who celebrated his 97th birthday on March 19, passed away at a local hospital at 5:15 o'clock Thursday afternoon.

Although "Grandpa" Allbright, as he has been known to his friends, had been in the hospital for over a year and rather inactive for the past four years, until that time he had been in remarkably good health and taken active interest in his church, lodge, and community.

He was born in Freeport, IL., on March 19, 1947.

When he was six years old moved with the family in which there were eleven children, to eastern Iowa.

The family lived on a farm and he attended rural schools, later studying at Upper Iowa University at Fayette, IA., preparatory to become a teacher.

He was married in 1873 at Strawberry Point, IA.
She died in 1893.

Taking a homestead in South Dakota in 1906.

He farmed and was occupied at the carpenters trade.

In 1916, he and his daughter Miss Pearl Allbright, came to Miles City where they have made their home with Mr. Allbright's son, Chase since that time.

Until a few years ago, Mr. Allbright was a regular attendant at the Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge.

Much of the time in his later years was spent in carving or building toys for children and telling them stories of his younger days.

Surviving are his children, Arthur K. Allbright of Worthington, MN., Mrs. Ruby C. Wood of LeMars, IA., M. G. Allbright of Rock Rapids, IA., Roy Chase Allbright and Miss Pearl Allbright, a total of 19 grandchildren, several great great grandchildren also survive.

He had been a resident here for the past 28 years.

Announcement is made today from the Grave Funeral Home that the funeral services
will be held on next Monday afternoon from the Graves Chapel, commencing at 10:30 o'clock.

The Rev. Harry E. Chappell, assisted by the Rev. Frank D. Bridgewater will officiate.

The committal rites will be held in Custer County Cemetery, Miles City, MT., where Burial will take place in the Knights of Pythias Lot.
