Virginia L. Bartlett, 90, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 28, 2012 at Hester Care Center. She was born Aug. 4, 1921 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Chester L. and Jessie B. Traller Jamison.

She was a graduate of McPherson College and was an elementary school teacher for 30 years, retiring in 1986. She taught for 22 years at Wiley Elementary, and had also taught at Stafford, Newton and Rural District Schools. She was a member of First Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship, and Life Member of the National Education Association, Kansas Education Association and the Hutchinson Area Retired Teachers Association.

On July 24, 1942, she married Donald M. Bartlett in Pratt, KS. He died Feb. 15, 1999. Survivors include a son, James and wife Sharon, Edmond, OK, two daughters; Donna Montgomery and husband Tom, Wichita, Marcia Beasley and husband Ed, Valley Center, sister, Phyllis Brown, Newton, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister Ila Purdue.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. Memorials may be given to the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Towers in care of the funeral home.
