Born Oct. 27, 1951, in Jonesboro, he was the son of Arvel E. and Ollie Ripka Watson. He worked at Townsend's Processing Plant for 26 years and for Crabtree Farms and Freshour Road Construction Company. He enjoyed helping others, hunting and fishing and was a "jack of all trades." He was a member of Strawberry Southern Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Nevins Watson; a son, Daniel Watson of Saffell; three brothers, W.O. Watson and Arlin Watson, both of Strawberry, and Gene Watson of Sulphur Rock; three sisters, Mary Kendall of Cherry Valley, Geneva Keck of Cord and Barbara Ann Burtcher of Sulphur Rock; a granddaughter, Alexandra Watson; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; a sister, Dolly Schwartzentrub; and three nephews, William Keck, Carlos Andrew Keck Jr. and Donnie Watson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Roller-Crouch-McGee Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Dan Tipton officiating. Burial will be in Milligan Campground Cemetery, located east of Cave City.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Smith, Tim Halfacre, B.J. Goings, Harry Keck, Robert Watson, Tommy Pagen, Wayne Smith and Lavon Huskey.
Honorary pallbearers are all his nephews and Aaron Dailing, Mike Wilmuth, Norm Saffell, Harold Lance, Bill Patterson, Freddie Rogers, Legacy Hospice staff, nurses of the fourth floor at White River Medical Center, Saffell Volunteer Fire Department, Dr. Ron Bates and Dr. K. Raman Desikan.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
