Death of J. H. Sherry.
J. H. Sherry passed away at his home four miles north of town, Saturday afternoon, June 2nd, at 8 o'clock, after a long and brave battle with that dread disease consumption.
Joseph Herbert Sherry, son of G. B. and Elizabeth Sherry, was born May 2. 1866, and was 45 years and 1 month old. He was married on December 15, 1889, to Miss Delia J. Kellogg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Kellogg. To this union were born four children, Arthur E , Howard L., Ethel M. Mr. Sherry joined the Methodist Episcopal church under the preaching of J. W Anderson, in the winter of 1880. Thus at the age member of 14 he surrendered his life to Jesus and lived in his service to the end. He was greatly interested in whatever concerned the church and the Kingdom of God.
During his illness his sufferings were untold, yet he bore it all with out a murmur and no word of complaint was every heard about his lot. He knew the end was near and was prepared for his departure.
Mr. Sherry was a prosperous farmer and numbered bis friends by the score. He was honorable in all his dealings to his fellowmen and was a good neighbor, a devoted husband and faithful father.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock in in the church at Union Chapel where be had held his membership all his life, and conducted by his pastor, Rev. O. Blackburn, and his remains were laid to await the call of the Master in the cemetery at the church.
He leaves to mourn his death, a devoted wife, two sons and two daughters, an aged father, a step-mother, one step-sister and three step-brothers, besides many other relatives and friends.
A large concourse of relatives and friends were present to pay their respects to their departed friend.
To the bereaved family is extended the sympathy of the community.
