MELBOURNE — Kimberly Sue Tate, 48, of Melbourne died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, in Batesville.

Born May 28, 1963, in Kansas City, Mo., she was the daughter of Don and Gaye Tate. She was a 1981 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. She was active in community affairs, volunteering at the Manna House and with the Izard County Fair Board. As a judge for the Izard County Fair Board, she traveled to other counties to judge crafts and foods. She was a long-time member and past president of the Izard County Extension Homemakers Club. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of New Home Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include her parents of Gid; two brothers, Donnie Tate of Melbourne and Kevin Tate of Evening Shade; four nephews and nieces, Braden Tate, Heather Tate, Corey Tate and Jasmine Tate; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, E.W. and Clara Tate and Ed and Grace Moser.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Howard Memorial Chapel in Melbourne with Barry Wilkes and Curtis Billings officiating. Burial will be in Reeves Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Pallbearers will be Charles Wolfe, Chris Zirkle, Jeff Eddy, Earnie Blackley, Larry Hill, Travis Tate, Donald Gillihan and Scott Bailey.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Robert Walton and the members of Izard County Extension Homemakers Club.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight.
