Patricia M. Stark, 88, of Chicago, formerly of DeKalb, Ill., died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago.
Born March 1, 1923, in Lincoln, the daughter of Dennis and Alice (Deane) Neylon, she attended St. Mary's School in West Chicago and then graduated from West Chicago High School in 1940. Patricia then went to work in public service in Maywood until 1942.
Patricia married Elmer G. Stark on Sept. 5, 1942, at St. Mary's Church in West Chicago; he preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1982. She lived in Wheaton where she was a food service employee at Wheaton North High School for 15 years. Patricia and Elmer then moved to DeKalb where she worked in food service for DeKalb High School and Northern Illinois University until she retired in 1997.
Patricia was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb, where she was a lay minister, Eucharistic minister, past president of Altar and Rosary Society, past president of Catholic Daughters of America 996 and formerly a CCD teacher. She was a member of the DeKalb County Farm Bureau and a volunteer for hospice and Kishwaukee Community Hospital.
Survivors include her children, Gerald (Linda) Stark of Sycamore, Kathleen (Warren) Schramer of Stillman Valley, Donna (Ray) Pattermann of Aurora, Colo., Janet (Perry) Miciunas of Carol Stream and Patricia (Michael) Kuropas of Chicago; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Richard Truitt of Wheaton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; four brothers; two sisters; and an infant son.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb with the Rev. Kenneth Anderson officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in DeKalb. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, with a Catholic Daughters service at 5 p.m. and a wake service at 6:45 p.m. at Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home, 310 Oak St., DeKalb, IL 60115. Visitation will also be held at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday, Feb. 2, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Catholic Daughters of America 996.
