Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was loved by his family and friends and was blessed with a great gift for making friends. Throughout his life he loved the Lord and served valiantly wherever he was called.
He was born January 21, 1915 in Burley, Idaho, to John William and Lillie Pitt Gardner, moving to Salt Lake City when eight years old. He met his sweetheart, Elaine Ward of Malad, Idaho at a missionary reunion. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple, May 5, 1939.
After graduating from West High School, he filled an honorable mission in the Spanish American Mission 1935-1937. He dearly loved many of his friends in the Mexican Community and the LDS Mexican Branch. He was a devout member of the LDS Church, holding many important positions and devoted his life to his family, his church and was a dedicated temple worker for 17 years. He worked as an extractor for temple records for three years.
His wit, patience, and kind, loving ways will be missed by all who knew him. His work took him away from home as he was a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, retiring January 1980.
