Roy is survived by wife, Gay F. Gillia of Albuquerque, NM, four daughters, Ruth Gillia, Mary Saula and her husband, Phil, Beth Brown and her husband, Jeff and Kathryn Gillia, three sons, Charles Gillia, Cary Gillia and Richard Gillia. Roy is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and one brother, Lee Gillia.
Roy was preceded in death by his father, Lee Roy Gillia, mother, Louise Gillia and one son, John Gillia.
Roy graduated from Notre Dame in South Bend, ID in 1955. Roy ran for United States Congress in El Paso, TX and had an opportunity to speak with President Ronald Reagan. While living in El Paso, he was in charge of fund raising for the United Way and was also President of the El Paso Chamber of Commerce. While Roy worked with KMPG as partner, Roy was involved in many civic groups, including Junior Achievement where he met his wife, Gay Gillia.
Roy was an avid sports fan, enjoyed playing golf and watching football. Roy had a real zest for living, was vibrant and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Services will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary Lomas Reception Hall, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Phil Saula, John Boynton and Scott Taylor. Honorary Pallbearer will be Pat Moore.
