A very active person, Helen was involved in many organizations at the New Bethel AME church where she was a member for over 80 years. She joined the Stewardess Board in 1968, the Missionary Board in 1968, and the Trustee Board in 1972. She was also a member of the Social Saving Club and the Host & Hostess Club in her community. In her free time Helen enjoyed reading, sewing and solving puzzles. She also loved watching sports especially professional baseball and golf.
Helen's personality and sense of humor made her loved by many. Her memory lives on in the hearts of those who survive her: her son, Kenneth (Yvetta) Snipes of Cleveland Heights, OH; her daughter, Gloria Lewis of Langhorne, PA; and her daughter Beverly (William III) Lewis of San Antonio, TX; 12 Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; and 1 brother; Eli Ricketts, Vineland.
Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM on Friday December 2, 2011 in the New Bethel A.M.E. Church, 414 N. 7th St., Vineland, NJ where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Hopewell Twp., NJ.
