Otmar Andrew Bohac, 87, passed away Sunday January 29, 2012 in Wichita Falls, TX. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Sojan George officiating. Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. Rosary will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday at Lunn's Colonial Chapel.
Otmar was born October 9, 1924 in Megargel, TX to Ignac and Amalie Pastusek Bohac. He graduated from Midwestern State University with a degree in Animal Husbandry. On September 1, 1949, he and Betty Lou Dupre were married in Wichita Falls, TX. Otmar had worked for the Wichita Cigar and Tobacco Co. and had also owned Willow Grocery.
Otmar served his country on the USS Harry Lee in WWII and took great pride in being an Iwo Jima survivor. He became a member of the VFW Post 8878 and took part in many remembrance activities. He was honored with other Texas WWII Veterans in 2010 with a trip to Washington, D.C. sponsored by Freedom Honor Flight.
Otmar was an active member of the Catholic Church in Wichita Falls with membership in many of its service and charitable organizations including the Knights of Columbus Council both 3rd and 4th degrees and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, helping to maintain the Society's Thrift Store. He exemplified a life of service to the Church and to others.
Otmar was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He leaves many loving memories of family vacations, holidays, hunting and fishing trips. He was an expert story teller, and shared countless, and memorable, stories of his life and adventures. He was dearly loved and his departure to his new life in Christ leaves a hole in the hearts and lives of many.
He was preceded in death by his infant twin daughters, Mary Paulette and Karen Marie, his granddaughter, Erin Crowley and by his 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Bohac of Wichita Falls, 4 children, Richard Andrew Bohac and his wife Denise of Dallas, Deborah Lynn "Debbie" Crowley and her husband Tim of Austin, Elizabeth "Diane" Housey of Austin, and Patricia Ann "Patty" St. Jacques and her husband Kevin of Dallas, 1 sister, Lucille Essler of Haslet, TX, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
