Aged Kelso Citizen Celebrates Birthday

"Uncle Buck" Benson Observes Anniversary

"Uncle Buck" Benson, of Kelso, as he is affectionaley known to his neighbors and many friends, observed his ninethith birthday anniversary last Sunday. Mr. Benson has been a life-long resident of the Kelso community. He is still active and still walks to the post office for his daily paper.

His wife, Mrs. Sarah Fitch Benson, died about twelve years ago. He has three daughters, Mrs. B. T. Corder and Mrs. Jim Pigg of Lincoln County; Mrs. Billie Corder of Huntsville; a son, Claud Benson, who lives near his father. He has seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

William Trousdale "Uncle Buck" Benson, aged 97 years, died at the home of Joe Pigg Monday morning at 4:30 after an illness of several months. Uncle Buck was one of the oldest and most prominent citizens of our county.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. A. T. Corder of Huntsville, Alabama, Mrs. B. T. Corder of Kelso and Mrs. James Pigg of Kelso; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Kelso Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Eld. Arthur Towry and Rev. J. Howard Scott, with burial in the Kelso Cemetery.

He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
