Norman O. Clanton, age 86, of Jackson, Tennessee, formally of Newbern, Tennessee died Monday, January 30, 2012, at Forest Cove Nursing Home in Jackson, TN. Graveside services for Mr. Clanton will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2012, 12 Noon at Atkins Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Rev. George Butler. Visitation for Mr. Clanton will be held Wednesday from 10:30 AM to 11:45 at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. ...

Mr. Clanton was born on August 4, 1925 to the late Fred and Lela Carolyn Chapman Clanton. He was a retired farmer, retired employee of Colonial Rubber and served in the United States Army during World War II.

Mr. Clanton is survived by two daughters, Diane Faye Owens of Sparks, Maryland and Lela Dawn Haynie of Jackson, Tennessee; two sons, Norman Earl Clanton of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Stephen Michael Clanton of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one sister, Goldie Pokorny of California; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rosa Lee Clanton, one sister, Thelma Bennett and one brother, Edward Clanton.
