Nicholas Ray "Nick" Allen, 23, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Friday, March 17, 2006, at Raleigh-Durham, N.C.
Services will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Bishop Mark Walker of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a time for sharing memories at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Nicholas was born Jan. 30, 1983, in Denver, Colo., the son of Kendall Ray and Kathy (Capson) Allen. He attended schools in the Siouxland area.
He was currently employed by Partners in Wireless, working on cellular phone towers. He had been working in Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina and also had been working in Florida. Last year, Nick helped his father build a new house.
Nick was an all-around athlete and enjoyed snowboarding, roller blading, fishing and playing pool. He played the guitar, worked on computers and liked to take care of his tomato plants. He also enjoyed helping at the Garden Market and the customers.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Kendall and Dawn Allen of Hornick, Iowa; his mother, Kathy Norris of Yankton, S.D.; two sisters, Tiffany Allen of Sioux City and Stacey Allen of Yankton; a stepbrother, Chad Carlson of Hornick; his maternal grandparents, LaMar and Marlys Capson of Laramie, Wyo.; his paternal grandmother, Doris Osborne of Sioux City; an aunt, Patty Sterling and several other aunts, uncles and cousins; a nephew, Nathan Ray Allen; and a niece, Makiya Lynn Ray.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Floyd Osborne; and maternal grandmother, Maryanne Strom.
