Samuel Russell Curry, Jr., 81, died January 30, 2008 after suffering a stroke. Sam was the son of the Reverend Dr. Samuel Russell Curry, Sr. and Pauline Hahn Curry. He grew up in Ashland, Ky., where he graduated from Ashland High School in 1944. He joined the Army and was honorably discharged in 1946. He graduated from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio where he met Kitty Brannan. They married in 1951 and moved to Houston in 1959. Sam went into business for himself as a Manufactures' Representative, forming the Curry Co. in 1963, where he continued to work until his illness. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Tom Curry and son-in-law David Littrell. He is survived by his wife Kitty; daughter Kathy Grice, husband Johnny and grandson David Wayne Littrell of Frisco TX; son Rusty Curry and wife Mary Beth of Corpus Christi, TX. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, February 2nd at St. Philip Presbyterian Church, 4807 San Felipe St., Houston, TX 77056, with The Rev. Dr. William C. Poe and The Rev. Carrie Smith-Coons officiating. A reception will be held immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Philip Presbyterian Church or to a charity of choice.
