Professor William Lee Barrett
(1870-1923)

William Lee Barrett was born December 27, 1870 in Nevada, Story, Iowa the son of John Thomas and Margaret (Seabolt) Barrett. He was one of two surviving children born to Margaret she passed away October 30, 1874. His father re-married Margaret Ann Silvers on September 14. 1876, and of this union have been born six children. His father and brother James S Barrett Also preceded him in death. His surviving brother is Jesse Cross Barrett, who is a resident of Fort Madison and is a guard at the state penitentiary.
He passed away April 1, 1923.

Mr. Barrett established a happy household by his marriage, on August 11, 1902, to Bertha Ellen Lightfoot, of Fort Madison. Their four children are John Willis and Paul Burdette, Evelyn Ellwye, and David Lyle. Professor Barrett was highly esteemed member of society and play a useful part in the many-sided life of the community to whose interests they are signally loyal.
