Funeral services for Lola Inez Hale, 91, of Crossville, who passed away July 24, 1999, were held July 26 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Akins Cemetery. The Rev. Leslie Hickey officiated. She was born March 6, 1908 in Cumberland County, the daughter of William "Charlie" Scarbrough and Mattie Emmaline Simmons Scarbrough.
Mrs. Hale was a homemaker, and she was a member of Winesap Baptist Church.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Zilphia Jane Thomas of Crossville; son-in-law, Joe Brent Thomas of Lincolnton, NC; and sister, Geneva Davis of Waynesville, OH.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Walter Hale; daughter, Margaret Ann Thomas; sisters, Mattie Emmaline Stone, Gladys Marie Scarbrough, Mary Lemma Petty and Zella Mae Carr; and brothers, Edward and Estel Scarbrough.
Pallbearers were Earl Evans, Lowell Simmons, Junior Simmons, Tim Jernigan, Wayne Jernigan and Sheldon Simmons.
Honorary pallbearers were Elmo Davis, Steve Austin, Casey Burgess, Buck Carr, Marvin Hale, Paul Oakes, Tom Akins, Donald Akins, Scott Hale and Jim Akins.
Bilbrey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
