"The Morning Post" Raleigh, NC Wednesday 5 Jul 1905

Telegrams announcing the death of Mrs William H Haigh of Fayetteville were received in Raleigh last evening. She died at 4:30 yesterday afternoon at her home.

Mrs Haigh's death, while not unexpected, comes as a sad bereavement to her friends and relatives.

Mrs Kate Mallon Badger Haigh was the eldest daughter of the late George E Badger and Mary Polk Badger. She was born in Raleigh in 1827 and was78 years of age.

Her grandfather, Col William Polk, was the distinguished Revolutionary Patriot, while her uncle, the late Leonidas Polk, was the illustrious Bishop and Confederate General.

Mrs Haigh was a lady of unusual charm, and combined personality made her the object of affection to those who were thrown in contact with her.

Her children, George Badger Haigh, Miss Mary Polk Haigh and Mrs J B Underwood of Fayetteville, all preceded her to the grave. Two brothers, Honorable Thomas Badger of this city, and Mr Sherwood Badger of New Bern survive her. Funeral and interment will be in Fayetteville.
