Oronogo – Thelma J. Marner Shoemaker, 82, passed away on January 26, 2012 at the Sedgwick Health Care Center in Sedgwick, Kansas. She was born January 20, 1930 to Ralph and Martha Berkey Smith in Galesburg, Missouri. Thelma was the co-owner and bookkeeper for Marner Equipment Company in Meridian, Mississippi. She married Vaughn W. Marner in Oronogo, Missouri and he preceded her in death in 1988. Thelma then married Chester Shoemaker in Oronogo, Missouri and he survives. She is also survived by her daughters, Ramona Byler and husband Glen of Belleville, Pennsylvania and Ranita Kaufman and husband Peter of Moundridge, Kansas; sons, Dr. Wesley Marner and wife Wanda of Eufaula, Alabama and Wyatt Marner of Gulfport Mississippi; sisters, Nadine Page, Grace Kliever, Jewel Evers and Marietta Geiser; son-in-law, Ron Kanagy; along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Thelma was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Kanagy; sister, Pauline Shoemaker; brother, Milford Smith; brothers-in-law, David Stutzman, Robert Page and Sam Evers. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City with Reverend Gerald Holden officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Monday. Interment will follow at Weaver Cemetery, north of Oronogo, Missouri. Services are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
