A native of Liberty, Ohio, he was a son of the late Dan William and Julie Stout Potter. Mr. Potter had lived most of his life in Carter County. He was a retired carpenter and electrician. Mr. Potter served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of Hampton Christian Church. He loved to fish. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Lynn and Danny Potter; four sisters, Edith Taylor, Clara Potter, Mary Nave and Ruby Potter; and two brothers, Stanley and Manley Potter. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Reed Potter; three grandsons, Lance Fouraker, Chattanooga, Uli Potter and Lars Potter, both of Hammond, Wis.; a granddaughter, Courtney Rider, of the home; four great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Nicole, Lance Lanier Jr., David Robert and Leah Fouraker; and a sister, Helen Cates, Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Potter will be conducted at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, January 12, at the Hampton Christian Church with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, minister, officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tenn. Active pallbearers will be Barry Lovelace, Jamie Lovelace, Lars Potter, Uli Potter, James Loveland and Jessie Hardin. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour at 12:45 p.m. Thursday at the church. Friends may also call at the residence.
