Clark, who died Jan. 19 of a pulmonary embolism at 52, was described as a natural-born risk taker. But he was also patient at tinkering.
The Houston native had San Antonio roots. In the 1950s, his grandfather moved his auto repair business from the Alamo City to Houston. A second generation worked at Clark's Brake and Wheel Alignment in Houston. Clark was the third.
He graduated from Lamar High School and attended the University of Houston. Afterward, he went into business for himself and sold foreign cars, said his mother, Muriel Clark.
In 1991, he moved to New Orleans to establish a Hyundai dealership.
