Second wife of Joel E. Smith

Eva Maude Kennedy Smith, 83, passed away on May 28, 2011at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton. A native of Tattnall County, she was the daughter of the late J. Cliff Kennedy and Maude Smith Kennedy. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her two brothers, J.C. Kennedy, Jr and Rader Kennedy. She was a member of Reidsville United Methodist Church and the Lillian Eason Sunday School Class. She attended Georgia State College for Women and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Sociology. She taught at Reidsville Elementary School and was employed by the Tattnall County Department of Family and Children Services. She was also a member of The Pond House Girls Group. Survivors include her husband, Joel Smith of Reidsville; children Tom and Heather Hill of Vietnam. Harry and Cathy Hill of Codyvill, N.Y. and Rebecca McDade of Reidsville; a sister, Lalah K. Kennedy of Claxton: five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several neices and nephews. Visitation will begin at 6pm on Tuesday May 31, 2011 from the Reidsville Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Wednesday June 1, 2011 from the Reidsville United Methodist Church with the Reverend Marc Foster officiating. Memorials may be made to Reidsville United Methodist Church Building Fund, Post Office Box 218 Reidsville, GA 30453.
