OTHO - Aaron N. Montgomery - 89, of Otho passed away early Friday morning, January 27, 2012 at the Villa Care Center.

A funeral service will be Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Holaday Creek Cemetery, east of Fort Dodge, with full Military Rites presented by the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Aaron is survived by his son, Mike (Carla) Montgomery of Otho; daughters, Karon Good and Shelly Terranova both of Otho; 8 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Lavida Nelson of Otho; brothers, Jack (Darlene) of Lehigh and Gould Jr. (Mert) of Kalo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gould Davis and Alice (Andrews) Montgomery; wife, Wynona; brothers, James and Sherman; sisters, Eva and Verni; infant daughter, Carol Sue and son-in-law, James Good.

Aaron was born on September 8, 1922 in Lehigh. He attended school in Lehigh until the sixth grade. After his education he worked until he joined the military in 1945. Aaron served in the Fourth Infantry Regiment as a sharp-shooter. He received his honorable discharge in 1946. Then in March of 1947 he was united in marriage to Wynona Fay Stufflebean in Fort Dodge. He worked several jobs in his lifetime. He was a mechanic and truck driver for Pan O Gold Bakery and Northwest Milk Xpress. In 1984 he retired from Levien Chevrolet as a janitor.

After retirement Aaron enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family will remember his smile the most and especially, his one-liner jokes.
