Alfred Lee Hackworth, 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, Jan. 27, 2012. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: Open. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, Bethesda, Md. 20814.

Alfred was born Nov. 26, 1932, in Eros, La. He served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force and 22 years with the postal service. In retirement, he loved traveling, vegetable gardening, hunting and fishing in Colorado. Al was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Novie Hackworth; a sister, Hazel; and two children, Amanda and Bryan.

Survivors: Wife, Clemmie, the love of his life for 57 years; son, David and his wife, Kate; grandchildren, Ann, Bryan, Cora and David; brother, Clifford of Bastrop, La; sisters, Gaynell of Monroe, La., Ann of Slidell, La., and Geneva of Atlanta, Ga; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
