As a young girl she attended the Wheat Grove Country School east of Pella and the Success School near New Sharon. She made confession of faith at New Sharon Reformed Church and later became a member of the Presbyterian Church in New Sharon.
She married John at her parents home 2-12-1920. They had a farm southwest of New Sharon until John's death in 1958. She then moved to Sully. She then joined the Sully Reformed Church where she was involved with the League Circle. She remained a faithful member until her health no longer permitted. She moved to Pella, living first at Fairhaven East then moving in 1985 to Hilltop Manor. In 1986, because of ill health she became a patient at the Friendship Manor in Grinnell, IA. Cato passed away at Grinnell General Hospital on 5-24-1988.
