Kills Old Time Friend

Wesley Deweese, 56, died in a Concordia hospital Sunday evening at 8:30 o'clock, from a bullet wound inflicted accidentally by a life time friend, John Krigline, 80, at 3 o'hlork (sic) Sunday afternoon.

Deweese, who resided in the Minersville neighborhood, had gone to visit Krigline at the latter's home north of Connordia (sic). Mr. Krigline decided to show Deweese his new 45 dalibre (sic) revolver. He was demonstrating the safety latrh (sic) on the weapon.

Holding the gun in his hands, he remarked:

"You can pull the trigger when the catch is set and it will not go off."

As he spoke he pulled on the trigger, and the gun was discharged, the bullet going through the fingers of his left hand which had been held in front of the barrel, tearing away the flesh, and entering the abdomen of his friend standing directly in front of him. The heavy bullet plowed through Deweese's body.

A doctor was called immediately, and Mr. Deweese was brought to the hospital here where an examination of the wound was made, but he was so weak from shock and loss of blood that nothing could be don (sic) for him. When he was undressed the bullet which had gone through his body dropped from his clothes.

No inquest will be held, it is announced today.

Mr. Krigline, innocent slayer of his old friend, is prostrated from griefl.

Wesley Deweese was born in Kansas and lived on a farm north of Concordia with his brother, Harrison and a sister, Elsie. He was unmarried. Another sister, Mrs. M. Downey, lives in Burlingame. Burial will be in the Smock (Zion) cemetery (sic) near Minersville, Tuesday at 10 o'clock, with services at the Minersville church. - Concordia Blade.

Mr. Krigline lives in Lincoln township a few miles west of Talmo.
