Amalia Frésquez, age 94, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2003 at an Albuquerque hospital surrounded by her loving family. Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went home to be with our Lord after a brief illness.
Amalia was born in El Carmen, New Mexico on June 30, 1908 to Narciso Frésquez and Isabelita Moncallo.
Amalia lived in El Carmen and worked as a cook for the Mora Independent Schools. Amalia also served as a Mayordoma of Mt. Carmen Church in El Carmen, NM. Amalia later moved to Albuquerque, NM where she lived until the time of her death.
Amalia was preceded in death by her parents, Narciso Frésquez and Isabelita Mocayo, one brother, Conrado Valdéz, two sisters, Anita Trujillo and Maria Vigil, two sons, Guillermo Abeyta and Nazario Esquíbel Jr., two daughters, Susie Sandoval and Glorianne Robinson, three grandchildren, Phillip Vogel, Roger Robinson and Loretta Mora and one great-grandchild, Steve Sandoval.
Amalia is survived by sons, Paul Abeyta and his wife, Delia from Cheyenne, Wyoming, Narciso Abeyta and his wife, Georgia from Casper, Wyoming and Felipe Esquíbel from Ledoux, NM, daughters, Grace Mora and her husband, Leroy from Leadville, Colorado, Rose Gallegos and her husband, Ernie from Albuquerque, NM, Lorraine Torres and her husband, Carlos from Bernalillo, NM and Judy Sandoval and her husband, Tino from Leadville, Colorado, a great-niece, Beatrice Hurtado and her husband, Elias from Holman, NM whom she loved like a daughter. Amalia is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Amalia enjoyed cooking, crocheting, quilting, and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rosary devotional services will be conducted at Rogers Mortuary on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at 7:00 p.m., with Bercy Espiñoza praying the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmen Church in El Carmen, NM with Father Tien-Tri Nguyen officiating. Christian Burial will follow at the El Carmen Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers, Willie Abeyta, Jesus Gallegos, John Mora, Wesley Sandoval, Marvin Sandoval and Eugene Martínez. Honorary Bearers are Chris Gonzáles and Gilbert Abeyta. Eulogy will be read by Beatrice Hurtado and other grandchildren.
