Christian C. Blough, on of Somerset County's well-known residents, died suddenly at his home in Conemaugh Township, near Benscreek, at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon, of heart failure. Mr. Blough was injured several months ago by his team running away near Benscreek, being thrown from his wagon and was rendered unconscious. He was found lying along the roadside and was taken to his home, where it was learned that one shoulder had been dislocated. He had fully recovered from his injuries, however. Shortly before 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon he was seized with a severe pain across his chest. His son was sent for Dr. C. P. Lenhart, of Roxbury, but while the young man was on his way to the physician's office, his aged father passed away. Upon the arrival of Dr. Lenhart at the home of Mr. Blough, he pronounced the cause of his sudden death heart failure.

Christian C. Blough was born seventy-one years ago in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, on the farm where his brother Samuel now resides, near Davidsville. His parents - Mr. and Mrs.Yost Blough - have been dead for many years. The subject of this notice was a brother of Emanuel Blough, of Stonycreek Township; Samuel, mentioned above; Mrs. Annie Blough, of Stonycreek Township; Fannie, wife of John H. Blough, of Davidsville; Elizabeth, wife of Emanuel Kauffman, of Conemaugh Township, Somerset County; Lavina, wife of Josiah Foust, of Scalp Level, and Maria, wife of Peter Knavel, of near Scalp Level.

Mr. Blough was married many years ago to Polly Mishler, who survives him with seven children, vis: Lavina, wife of John Baumgardner, of Scalp Level; Josiah, of Conemaugh Township; David, at home; Polly, wife of Jeremiah Shaffer, of Scalp Level; Annie wife of Abram Baumgardner, of Walnut Grove; Miss Mary, at home, and Louisa, wife of John Kneiss, of Kring's. Two children are dead. Mr. Blough was a carpenter, having learned the trade with the late John Sala, father of Mr. Joseph Sala, the Davidsville undertaker, whose carpenter shop was located not far from Davidsville. Mr. Blough worked at his trade for a number of years, after which he purchased three hundred acres of land near Benscreek and engaged in farming. He was well known in this city, having regularly disposed of the product of his farm to a number of our merchants and citizens. The funeral will take place at 10 o'clock Sunday morning from the Stahl Mennonite Church, where the obsequies will be conducted by a number of Mennonite ministers, after which interment will be made in the church graveyard. Mr. Blough was a member of the Mennonite Church and was a stalwart Republican.
