Grace Telle Cannon Neslen was born on Thursday January 1st,1880 to George Quayle and Martha Telle Cannon in Salt Lake City,Utah.Grace spent her childhood on the Cannon Family Farm which was located on the East Bank of the Jordan River.Grace attended Grade School on the Cannon Farm with her Mother Martha as her teacher.She then attended the private School of Camilla Cobb,LDS college.and the University of Utah. Grace then went to the Boston Cooking School in Boston,Mass. Upon her return to Salt Lake,she opened her own cooking school which was called"Miss Cannon's School of Cookery". She is remembered for being a gracious hostess and expert at cooking delious dinners.On Thursday October 25th,1905 Grace married Charles Clarence Neslen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Grace was kept very busy taking care of her Family.She became Primary President of the 20th Ward,and was a member of the Y.L.M.I.A Board,where she served more than twenty years.During World War Two,Grace accompaned her husband who was ordered to the 145th Field Artillery Regement to San Luis Obiisto,and then to Fort Lewis Washington.While their she used her talents in cooking meals for the Soldiers serving our Country. On Monday,September 25th,1945,Grace and her husband,along with members of the Y.L.M.I.A.Board were returning home from the dedication of the Idaho Falls Temple,when the car they were in was hit by another car in Blackfoot,Idaho and her life was taken. Grace is survived by her husband Charles Clarence Neslen,children,Clarence Cannon(Leon),Robert Cannon(Margaret) Neslen,Gertrude Cannon(Alan)Thody,George Quayle(Eleanor)Neslen,and Charles Richard Neslen, and six Grandchildren.Grace's Funeral was held in the 20th Ward Chapel filled to capacity on Thursday October 4th,1945. Grace was buried in the Salt Lake Cemetery in the Neslen family plot.
