LUDLOW - Esther Lilla Lombard, 87, died June 15, 2010, at Sullivan County Nursing Home in Claremont, N.H.

She was born in Mount Holly March 5, 1923, the daughter of Walter and Edith (Hatch) Spaulding, and received her education in Cuttingsville and Plymouth Kingdom schools.

She married Reginald A. Lombard in Plymouth June 13, 1942.

Mrs. Lombard was employed by Springfield Convalescent Center as a nurse's aide for more than 20 years, retiring in 1987. She formerly worked at Harriett's Rest Home in Ludlow.

She was a member of Ludlow Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Springfield VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Tyson Ladies Aid Society and Springfield Moose Club.

She enjoyed dancing and working in her flower garden.

Survivors include a son, Rick Lombard of Charlestown, N.H.; three daughters, Alice Brooks, Lillian Arguien, both of Weathersfield, and Frances Arias of Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, David Spaulding of Proctorsville and Gordon Spaulding of Rutland; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lombard was predeceased by her husband in 1963; two sons, Cleo and Leo Lombard; a granddaughter; and siblings, Charles Spaulding, Ada Lombard and Eveline Coolidge.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at the Adams & Kenney Funeral Home in Ludlow. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Ludlow. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to , Vermont Chapter, 172 North Main St., Barre, VT 05641.
