Mrs. Higgs, Born in Millville, was the daughter of the late Howard C. Kirby and Helen Gifft Kirby Long and the widow of Douglas MacArthur Higgs. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her step-father, Stanley E, Long.
She was retired from Halltown Paperboard Company and was of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra D. Hicks and husband John of Charles Town, one son, David W. Higgs and wife Linda of Martinsburg; two sisters, Linda Brackett of Charles Town and Barbara Harding of Harpers Ferry, and four grandchildren, John D. Hicks, Shawn M. Hicks, Christopher A Everhart and Elizabeth A. Grove.
The family received friends 7-9pm Thursday and Friday at the funeral home.
The funeral services were held at 11am, Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home of Harpers Ferry with Pastor Cedric Sullivan officiating.
Burial was made in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, WV.
