Sadie's parents moved to Walpole, N. H., where they continued to farm. She and her younger sister Bessie went for more advanced schooling at Miss Howland's School in Brattleboro. They boarded there in 1877-1878 and very likely continued until the death of their mother, Frances Ann (McDonald) Perkins, in Brattleboro on June 11, 1879. The girls studied French, Latin, music, and drawing, I suppose in addition to a little history and poetry in some books they were required to buy. The total cost for the year 1877-1878 was $118.78.

Their father then moved to Springfield, Massachusetts, where the girls attended a Miss Howard's School. Finally, their father returned to his childhood town of Brookline, Massachusetts, and rented an apartment near Brookline Village.

Sadie continued to live with her father until his death, when it seems she moved into Boston, as she ran for the Boston School Committee in 1911 as a Socialist. She did not win. In the summers she lived next to her father's half-sister Lizzie Perkins in Beverly Farms.

After Lizzie died, Sadie took her inheritance and bought a farm in Francestown, New Hampshire, where she lived until her death from cancer.
