Funeral services for Wilda Baughman, 89, will be Friday, November 23, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas, where the family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM before the services. Interment will be in the Dallas Cemetery. Condolences may be left for the family at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com . Wilda was born in Melrose, Iowa to Albert and Della Auxier on October 16, 1918. She graduated from Melcher High School in 1936. She worked as a farm wife, a clerk in fabric & drapery store, and operated the Melcher Variety Store. Wilda loved to quilt, sew; she made clothes for her family, and played the piano. She was a strong woman, enduring many hardships in her life. Wilda was the 'cream of the crop'. Wilda was preceded in death by husbands: Charles Johnson in 1944, Gerald Speed in 1967, and Charles Baughman in 1993; an infant son; and a son Dennis Johnson; and 3 siblings: Herbert Auxier, Bessie Amsbury, and Anah Butler. Wilda is survived by her children: Mike (Sheryl) Speed of Indianola, and Carolyn (Bruno) Avon of Knoxville; grandsons: Isaac Speed, Aaron Avon, and Nicholas Avon; step grandchildren: Brian Hoeg and Tammy Hoeg; a brother Kenneth Auxier of Bloomington, IL, and a sister Donna Phillips of Oklahoma City.
