Memorial Mass for former McMinnville resident Bernice A. Heinen of Bend will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. James Catholic Church, McMinnville.

Interment will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery, McMinnville.

Mrs. Heinen died Aug. 19, 2001, in her home. She was 83.

She was born Nov. 12, 1917, in Moscow, Idaho, the daughter of Robert and Cora Gutches Hazeltine. She was raised in Wallace, Idaho.

She and Edward M. Heinen were married May 18, 1937.

She later moved to Spokane, Wash., where she lived for 25 years. She moved to McMinnville in 1973. Mrs. Heinen belonged to St. James Catholic Church, McMinnville, and served on the church altar society for seven years. She enjoyed flower arranging. She moved to Bend in 1995.

Survivors include a son, Michael Heinen of McMinnville; and a sister, Dorothy Stewart of Bothell, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mennonite Group Home in care of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, 135 N.E. Evans St., McMinnville, OR 97128.
