Kathryn Yates Robinson, age 86, of Greeneville, passed away Thursday morning, January 26, 2012, at her home.

She was born August 6, 1925, in Savannah, Georgia, a daughter of the late M.M. and Emma Yates. While in high school the Yates Family moved to Tennessee. She was a graduate of Greeneville High School and received in degree in elementary education from Tusculum College, and earned a Master's degree in Speech Pathology from East Tennessee State University.

She was a retired speech pathologist from the Greene County School System. Mrs. Robinson was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and the Adelle Haynes Circle.

She was a member of Greeneville-Greene County Retired Teachers Association, the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post # 1990, Women of Moose Greeneville Chapter No. 1598, Youth Builders, and was a volunteer for Toys for Tots and Gifts for Kids.

"Mimi", as she was known to many, was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was the matriarch of her family and was loved by all. "Mimi" was an avid reader and loved to play bridge and rook. She was an artist and wrote poetry.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Kay and Thomas Bearden of Telford and Susan and David Craig of Greeneville; one granddaughter: Jennifer Maples Maxwell and her husband, Jeff; three grandsons: James Hope and and his wife, Jessica, Matthew Maples, and Will Bearden; five great-grandchildren: Kathryn Hope, Susan Hope, Preston Maples, Mason and Noah Maxwell; two step-great-grandsons: Michael and Curtis Craig; one brother and sister-in-law: M. M. "Jimmy" Yates, Jr. and Betty; one brother-in-law: Johnie Robinson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a special niece: Ellouise Kirchoff; special friends: Sara Alexander Flynn, Summer Peters, Betty Ruth Alexander, Faye DeBusk, and Charlie Gnadt; special caregivers: Kathy Sparks, Mary Story, Darlene Baker, Miranda Dean, Martha Bishop, and the staff of Caris Hospice, especially Amanda Harris and Liz Burgess.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Frank P. Robinson III, who died January 12, 1996; two sons: infant James Morris Robinson and Frank P. "Robbie" Robinson IV; sister-in-law: Louise Robinson Orr.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. Dr. Dan Donaldson will officiate. Interment will follow in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Richard Maples, James Hope, Michael Craig, Curtis Craig, Jeff Maxwell, Matthew Maples, and Will Bearden. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Caris Hospice.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to the American Juvenile Diabetes Association.
