Mr. William Thomas "Ted" Albaugh, 79, of 321 Roberts Mill Road, Taneytown, died Thursday, Nov. 16, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

He was the husband of Theryl Fleming Albaugh, his wife of 57 years.

Born Oct. 8, 1921, in Frederick County, he was a son of the late John David and Maude Nusbaum Albaugh.

Mr. Albaugh was a member of the Church of the Open Door, Westminster, where he sang in the choir and was a member of the Super Sixties.

He was formerly active with the auxiliary of Gideons International and Christian Farmers Fellowship.

He was formerly employed with Roger Roop and was involved with starting the Heifer Project through the Brethren Service Center, New Windsor.

He was also employed with Donald Six, Middleburg, and later with Reindollar Co., Taneytown. He retired from Westminster Southern States in 1986 after working there for a number of years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mary Margaret Lovas, of Cumming, Ga.; one son, R. Wayne Albaugh and wife Sue of Westminster; two grandchildren, Michelle Esser of Philadelphia, and Debbie Poling of Littlestown; three great-grandchildren, Andrew and Amanda Poling, and Lauren Esser; and one sister, Helen Fritz of New Windsor.

He was predeceased by one brother, Ira Albaugh Sr.; and sisters, Evelyn Carbaugh and Bertha Hoover.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster, with Dr. Norris E. Belcher Jr., his pastor, officiating.

Private interment will be in Pipe Creek Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

There will be no public visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Carroll Co. Unit, P.O. Box 824, Westminster, Md. 21158; or to the Building Fund of Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster, Md. 21157.
