ADIRONDACK-- Leota E. McKinstry,
86, died Tuesday, August 3,
1993 at Moses-Ludington Nursing
Home in Ticonderoga following a
long illness.
Mrs. McKinstry was born on May
26,1907 in Horicon, the daughter of
the late Melvin & Evangeline (Robbins)
Kingsley.
During the late 1950's, she per-
formed as Mother Goose at the former
Storytown, now know as the
Great Escape in Lake George. She
and her late husband also owned &
operated Pine Grove Cabins in
Pottersville in the 1950's.
She was a member of the Pottersville
Chapter of Eastern Star and
a former member of the Adirondack
Garden Club.
She was predeceased by her husband,
Joseph McKinstry, one
daughter, Gertrude McKinstry and
two sisters, Hattie Agard and Jane
Cossey.
Survivors include one son, Melvin
McKinstry of Adirondack; one
daughter, Lyla Hayes of Chestertown;
one sister, Lena Pratt of
Saratoga Springs; five grandchildren,
16 great-grandchildren, 15
great-great grandchildren and several
nieces, nephews and greatnieces
and great-nephews.
Graveside services were held on
August 6, 1993 at the Underwood
Cemetery, Adirondack with Pastor
Douglas Roberts officiating. Arrangements
were under the direction
of the Barton-McDermott Funeral
Home, Pine St., Chestertown.
The family had suggested that expressions
of sympathy be made in
the form of donations to the
Chestertown Emergency Squad.
