Emma R. Silvey, 90, a former resident of Whitman County, died of age-related causes at Hospice House in Kennewick, Wash., Wednesday.

She was born Nov. 12, 1908, to Arthur and Rose Bussard at Guthrie, Okla. The family moved to Colfax, Wash., when she was very young. She attended St. John's Academy at Colfax.

She received a degree as a registered nurse at St. Ignatious Hospital in Colfax.

She worked as a nurse at the Bryant-Wiseman Clinic and for Dr. Freeman of Colfax and for Dr. Mary Kay Turner of Pullman, Wash.

She was married to Raymond "Monk" Silvey for 59 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Dona Rae Silvey of Kennewick, Wash.; one sister, Irma Schierman of Jerome, Idaho; one grandson, Michael Ray Conley; and two great-granddaughters of Bothell, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her husband March 19, 1991.

A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Colfax Cemetery. The Rev. Bob Ingalls will officiate. Inurnment will follow the service.

The family suggests memorials may be gifts to the Hospice House of Kennewick.
