Heather Nichole Ward, 38, of rural Canton, MO., passed away Jan. 21, 2012, after a lengthly illness at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

She was born Sept. 29, 1973 in Memphis, Mo., the daughter of Ray(Connie)Ward and Kathy(Jerry Carder)Swindler.

She attended grade school and graduated from Scotland County R1 High School in Memphis, Mo., with the class of 1992. She played in the band and was a member of the jazz band and Ann's Girls. She graduated from Vatterott College in Quincy, Ill.

She is survived by her fiance, Lee Raleigh of Canton, Mo.; three daughters, Natasha Barnhart, Tayler Davis and Kailee Davis; her parents, Ray and Connie Ward of Memphis, Mo., and Kathy Swindler of Ottumwa; one sister, Kristi Stansberry of Ottumwa; two nieces, Tierra and Josalyn and one nephew, Landon, all of Ottumwa; one grandmother, Bonnie Ward of Memphis, Mo.; one stepgrandmother, Marjorie Ward of Rutledge, Mo.; grandparents, Joe and Marylin Shipley of Ottumwa; Lee's sister, Dee(Kevin)Strahl of LaBelle, Mo., and their children Hunter and Levi.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Lawrence Ward; and stepgrandfather, Lloyd Ward.

Funeral services will be at 10 am Tuesday at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, Mo.; Pastor David Howlett officiating. Interment will follow at Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, Mo. Memorials have been suggested to the family.
