Staff Sgt. Kimberly Ophelia Stewart, a staff sergeant in the Louisiana National Guard, died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, in Baker. She was 35, a native of Fort Polk and resident of Baker. She served at the Louisiana Medical Command, Camp Beauregard.

Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home, 7221 Plank Road, until service. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery.

Survived by her father, John Allen Stewart Sr.; brothers, John Allen Stewart Jr. and David Michael Stewart Sr.; three uncles, three aunts and a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Ruth Jackson Stewart; and sister, Melinda Denise Stewart.

She graduated from Glen Oaks High School in the East Baton Rouge Parish school system in 1995, earned a bachelor's degree from the University of New Orleans, and a bachelor's and master's degree from Southern University.
