Clara F. Deters, daughter of John and Caroline (Meinen) Deters, was born Oct. 3, 1901 in LeMars, Iowa. She grew up in LeMars and on Feb. 17, 1925 she married Joseph B. Kolbeck in LeMars. After their marriage they moved to Salem where they farmed until 1961 when they retired and moved into Salem.
Joe died in 1971 and Clara continued to live in Salem until ill health forced her into a nursing home eight years ago. She died at the Good Samaritan Luther Manor in Sioux Falls, SD on Jan. 22, 1993.
Survivors include; 10 children, Ray and wife Dolores of Salem, SD; Rich and wife Jean of Salem, SD; Dorothy Helma and husband James of Kimball, SD; Walter of Salem, SD; Joe and wife Dolores of Salem, SD; Sr. Marita "Donna" Kolbeck of Sioux Falls, SD; Ardella Sherwood and husband Jack of Grenada Hills, California; Carol Mack and husband Andrew of Sioux Falls, SD; Ken and wife Diane of Sioux Falls, SD; and Jim and wife Myra of Sioux Falls, SD; a daughter-in-law, Carol Kolbeck of Salem, SD; 45 grand-children; 44 great grand-children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Ervin Kolbeck, and 14 brothers and sisters.
