She was born July 8, 1925, at Thedford to William and Elva Keenan Gaston. She grew up on the ranch east of Thedford and graduated from Thedford High School in 1942. After graduating she worked at the bank in Thedford for five years until her marriage to Robert T. Finney. They were joined in marriage on March 15, 1947, in Seneca. To this union four children were born. They lived on a ranch south of Seneca until they moved to a ranch south of Mullen in 1971. Billie lived on the ranch until she moved to the rest home in Mullen in January 2004 due to her illness.
Mrs. Finney helped with the North Platte Canteen during World War II. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, St. Mary's Altar Society and Nebraska Cattlewoman's Association.
Survivors include her four children, Danny (Jeanne) of Gordon, Russ (Pat) of Mullen, Doug (Rose) of Wellfleet and Helen (Bill) Neumeyer of Mullen; sister, Marlene (Noah) Nutter of Thedford; a brother, Tom (JoAnne) Gaston of Custer, S.D.; and eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister; and a grandson.
Memorials are suggested to the Pioneer Memorial Rest Home or Cedarview Cemetery.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mullen. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mullen.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Mullen Funeral Home.
