Mrs. Boston died at her home in Amarillo Monday, June 15, the day before her 86th birthday. She was born in the Plymouth community, the daughter of Thomas Benjamin and Alice Texas Davis Starkey. They came to Plymouth from Tarrant County, where they were married in 1919. Mrs. Boston attended West Texas State Teachers College in 1917, and about that time, she taught in the Plymouth School. She married William Moody Boston on November 2, 1919 in Wellington, Mr. Boston was principal of the Wellington Schools from 1920 until 1927. He was with the Shamrock School for a year and a half, then the family moved to Perryton, where he was in the grocery business for 17 years. After living in Wellington through 1945, they moved to Goodnight, where Mr. Boston died on February 5, 1956. Mrs. Boston returned to Wellington in 1972. Mrs. Boston was concerned with the preserving of the history of the area. She was a member of Collingsworth County Historical Association and worked to promote the growth of Collingsworth Co. Museum. She belonged to the First Baptist Church and the Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Starkey is survived by two sons, William Moody Boston, Jr., Gilroy, California and James Robert Boston, Sr., Tyler; two daughters, Mrs. George H. (Rosemary) Kollmar, Amarillo and Mrs. Dayton M. (Joan) Carrell of Austin; one brother, Oran Starkey, Wellington; and one sister, Rose Starkey (Powell) Stinson, Canyon, Texas. There are nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Boston in 1979, and by these brothers and sisters: Pearl Starkey Brooks, Mable Starkey Brown, Emma Frances Morgan, Grady Starkey, Bert Starkey, and Charles Starkey.
