Lena E. (Lengerich) Bennett, 85 of Decatur, Indiana died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Swiss Village in Berne. Lena was born on November 8, 1926 in Portland, Indiana to the late John and Louise (Schmidt) May. On April 27, 1946 she married Richard B. Lengerich; he preceded her in death. On July 26, 1995 she married her 2nd husband Winton J. Bennett; he also preceded her in death on August 2, 1998.

Lena was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Women of St. Mary. She retired in 1981 after 20 years of service with the Corning Glass company.

She is survived by a son John R. (Dianne) Lengerich of Fort Wayne; three daughters Mary Lou (Tom) Scheumann of Decatur, Diane (Lynn) Probst of Ohio City, OH, and Virgene Rich of Panama City, FL; two sisters Rosemary Freiburger of Yoder, IN and Jane May of Decatur; 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a daughter Theresa Lengerich and two brothers Robert and Victor May.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 3-7 p.m. at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 2:30. A 9:20 a.m. Prayer service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 also at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Father David Voors will be officiating. Burial is in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.

Memorials are to Family Life Care (Hospice) or St. Joseph School.
