CARBONDALE Leonard A. Brase, 76, of Carbondale, passed away Monday, Jan 23, 2012 at his home. He was born December 19, 1935 at the Rose Hill Chicken Hatchery in Davenport, Nebraska, the son of Theodore and Esther (Riese) Brase. He graduated from Davenport Lutheran High School. He joined the United States Army right out of high school. He served in Germany with Elvis Presley, which he commanded. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran and retired after 20 years of service which he achieved to OSA Chief Warrant Officer. He also worked for the Civil Service for a year. After the service, Leonard drove and operated a truck for 24 years. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans, American Legion and Carbondale Lyons Club, which he was a past president. He was also a avid camper and enjoyed the outdoors. His survived by the love of his life, his wife, Bonnie, one son, Steve Brase of Hastings, Nebraska; three step-sons, Tom Bell of Emporia, Ronnie Bell of Olpe and Robert Robbie Noble, Jr. of Osage City; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship in Carbondale. Family will be receiving friends, Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship in Carbondale, Kansas. Memorials can be made to the Grace Hospice or Carbondale Volunteer Fire Department and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, Kansas 66523.
