BLOOMINGTON, Wis. - Eleanora C. "Ella" Moris, 98, of Bloomington, died Tuesday morning, March 25, 1997, at Prairie du Chien (Wis.) Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bloomington, with the Rev. David Timmerman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Metcalfe-Kuenster-Page Funeral Home, Bloomington, where there will be a Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary at 8:30 p.m.
Mrs. Moris and her husband were longtime farmers in the Bloomington area.
She was born on Oct. 2, 1898, in Petersburg, Iowa, daughter of John and Josephine (Hoefer) Crubel. She married Peter J. Moris on Sept. 30, 1919, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bloomington; he died on June 2, 1971.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Christian Mothers, St. Jane Frances Study Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Since the turn of the century, Ella has enjoyed being with her family and friends, playing cards, cooking, enjoying her flowers and tending to her garden.
Surviving are five children, John (Carol) Moris, of Bloomington, Clara Mumm, Mathilda "Sis" Yunk, and Eleanor (Walt) Mumm, all of Cassville, and Jim (Mildred) Moris, of Glen Haven; a daughter-in-law, Alma Moris, of Mount Hope; 27 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Weber, of Lancaster, and Sister Julia M. Crubel, of Manitowoc; and a sister-in-law, Lena Mergen, of Bloomington.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, Peter G., on Oct. 14, 1990, and Ed, on March 6, 1995; an infant grandson, Clarence Moris; two sons-in-law, Gerald Yunk and Loren Mumm; a daughter-in-law, Agnes Moris; four sisters, Elizabeth Sabers, Caroline Goedken, Catherine Meyer and Mary Weber; and four brothers, the Rev. Hubert, John, William and Henry.
