20 Apr 1934 - J. E. Dees, age 75 years, 9 months and 3 days, expired at the family home in Many Sunday morning at 2 o'clock and was interred Sunday afternoon in Many cemetery.

Funeral services were conducted at Many Baptist church at 3 p.m. by the pastor, Rev. J. M. Pate, followed by immediate interment.

Mr. Dees was a pioneer of Many, having moved here from Alabama in December 1893. He was a prosperous farmer, and in later years a favorite blacksmith and wheelwright. He had been in ill health several months and in a critical condition for the past three weeks. He was a progressive citizen, advocator of better living conditions, education and public improvements and numbered his friends by the
legion.

Mr. Dees is survived by his widow and three sons, Prof. Ernest E. Dees of Ajax, and W. E. and J. T. Dees of Many.
